CHARTER joined the nationwide celebration of Children’s Environmental Health (CEH) Day in 2024 with two exciting events designed to engage, educate, and empower families. Held annually on the second Thursday of October, CEH Day raises awareness about the environmental factors affecting children’s health, inspiring individuals and communities to take action. This past year, CHARTER hosted an in-person event in Decatur, Georgia, paired with a virtual experience on the popular online gaming platform– Roblox. This hybrid approach ensured broader accessibility, allowing community members who couldn’t attend in person to still participate.

The Southeast PEHSU (Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit) led the Decatur gathering, transforming the town square into a hub of interactive learning. Families explored an educational VR experience on asthma mitigation, picked up “grow your own veggie” kits, enjoyed ice cream, and participated in a live book reading on climate change. The event also introduced attendees to CHARTER’s innovative Roblox world, an engaging digital space that makes environmental health education fun and accessible for kids. Through immersive activities, children learned about air quality, household toxins, and sustainable living—all while enjoying an interactive gaming experience.

“Thank you!!! I love this initiative and my kids do too!”
